All parents at Hawthorne are automatically voting members of the Parent Council, and are encouraged to join a committee.

To join a School Improvement Committee

Ask the Council Chairs to put you in touch with the Committee Chairs.

There are also ad hoc committees depending on issues arising: Grade 7/8 , Competition at Hawthorne, Grade5/6 trip and Safe Schools have been committees in the past.

To find out about current active committees contact the Council Chairs.

School Council

School Council meetings are held monthly and cover a wide variety of topics.

  • There is always a report from Administration and a Teacher Report.
  • Parent Council Meetings are a great way to find out about issues at Hawthorne, upcoming events, new ideas and initiatives.
  • Anyone can be put on the agenda of the Council meeting if they let the Chairs know beforehand.

Committees

There are regular meetings of the School Improvement Committee sub-committees: Peaceful, French and Eco.

  • These areas of focus were decided through a school wide survey a few years ago.
  • Parents and teachers are represented on each committee.
  • To join a School Improvement Committee meeting ask the Council Chairs to put you in touch with the Committee Chairs.
