All parents at Hawthorne are automatically voting members of the Parent Council, and are encouraged to join a committee.

Ask the Council Chairs to put you in touch with the Committee Chairs.
There are also ad hoc committees depending on issues arising: Grade 7/8 , Competition at Hawthorne, Grade5/6 trip and Safe Schools have been committees in the past.

School Council
School Council meetings are held monthly and cover a wide variety of topics.
- There is always a report from Administration and a Teacher Report.
- Parent Council Meetings are a great way to find out about issues at Hawthorne, upcoming events, new ideas and initiatives.
- Anyone can be put on the agenda of the Council meeting if they let the Chairs know beforehand.
Committees
There are regular meetings of the School Improvement Committee sub-committees: Peaceful, French and Eco.
- These areas of focus were decided through a school wide survey a few years ago.
- Parents and teachers are represented on each committee.
