Starting and facilitating a club is a great way to contribute to the Hawthorne Community. Clubs are well attended by students and much appreciated by parents.
Decide what kind of club you want to start – Some popular clubs in the past have been:
- Environmental/Roots and Shoots
- Art, Drama
- Floor hockey
- Math games
- Yoga
You will need to decide
- How long your club will run—between 6—8 weeks is recommended.
- The cost of the club—there is usually a minimal cost for supplies and snacks.
- When your club will run –lunchtime and afterschool are usual times for clubs.
- How many participants you can have
Then
- Fill out a club permission form, get it signed by a School Council co-chair, and then forward it to the Principal.
- Once the Principal has approved the club, work with him / her on securing a room.
- Send out the Club Notice form to families and post a sign up sheet.
- If enrollment is limited you will need to post this on the sign up.

Nice idea but what if no one signs your form? I dropped off a proposal for an art club in September when school started and have not heard anything from anyone.
