As at this writing, the decision to close the Grade 7 entry point to the TDSB Extended French program (EF) has not been made yet. However, here is a letter from Nadine Segal, System Superintendent, regarding how the potential changes would impact our school.

Hi All,

At our January 6/09 meeting we confirmed the following for Hawthorne:

  • Students at Hawthorne will continue at Winona automatically as a flow through to grade 7 Extended French. They no longer need to apply to the program.
  • If Hawthorne becomes K-8, there will be additional entry to grade 7 for students proficient in Core French.
  • Hawthorne is not affected by the Board report that recommends phasing out the Grade 7 EF program. As an alternative program, it has had its own feasibility process and decisions.
