Dear Parent/Guardian:
As you’ve heard in the media over the past week, Federal, Provincial and Municipal public health authorities are reporting that an influenza-like illness has been confirmed in parts of the country, including Ontario.
Information about the swine flu, as well as links to Toronto Public Health and answers to questions that you may have, are available on the Toronto District School Board’s (TDSB) website www.tdsb.on.ca
The TDSB is committed to protecting the health and well being of all our students and staff. Toronto Public Health is working with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to monitor and investigate the illness and will provide the TDSB appropriate
information. We will continue to work closely with them and follow their direction.
Attached are two Fact Sheets (PDF 1) (PDF 2) provided by Toronto Public Health. We encourage you to follow the directions of Toronto Public Health (PDF) but particularly to remind you to discuss with your child the importance of hand washing and covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
If you or your child shows any signs of flu-like symptoms, we ask that you contact your medical practitioner for professional advice. To keep our school communities safe and healthy we need to work together by following the advice of health authorities and being vigilant in personal hygiene practices.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact your school principal directly.
Sincerely,
Gerry Connelly
Director of Education
